Coffee, always

“… Mr. Butler had already had, he said, as much coffee as was good for him. Phryne, who had never had as much coffee as was good for her, poured another cup and sipped luxuriously.”  Kerry Greenwood, Queen of the Flowers

This sums up my love affair with coffee, brought to a ghastly nadir during a recent power outage, when I checked flashlight batteries instead of filling the thermos with hot coffee.

Lesson learned.

The energy, the impetus, the awakening of coffee! It’s what gets you writing, even by flashlight. Well, me, anyway.

What galvanizes you? What propels and spurs you to the keyboard or the pen and paper? What have you found is the best trigger to write, or to read that next book, or . . . ?

Halloween in Summer

Cerulean sky—
Do the gods watch over me?
Bird poop on shoulder.

Haiku fun, :) (And it actually happened yesterday.)

Pretty much sums up my year so far—both good and bad, as life often is.

After a long, stressful winter and spring that included a death in the family, personal injury, and existing in the current state of the world, all I can say is Whew, glad it’s summer.

So, I guess it’s time to publish the next story in my series, if only to cheer myself up.

Halloween in Summer? Why not?

Here you go:

Check it out here on Amazon

Fist’s Day: a Day in the Animal Guild is a story from The Animal Guild Series, a fantasy with action, adventure and mystery starring our favorite cat—Fist!

Fist—a black cat, impudent spy and self-imposed loner—decides to satisfy her curiosity about Halloween. But Halloween and black cats don’t always mix.

After an unimaginable incident, she finds herself lost and utterly alone for the first time in her life. She seeks help from the most unlikely assortment of new and intriguing animals, but appearances can be deceiving. Who is friend and who is foe? And will Fist ever find her way home to her guild family?

Fist’s (mis)adventure takes place after Kiah’s Day, a Day in the Animal Guild Series, but can be read as a self-contained story.

Thanks as always for your support. Enjoy!

Sloooow

Who says you can’t type with a broken wrist? (Even if it takes an hour to input two grafs…)

Chapter 4 done, a sloooow WIP on this latest book. Teens, rats, ghosts, oh my.
