Here are some reviews of The Anwinn Ghost that have been posted on Amazon, Goodreads, LibraryThing, PC, or elsewhere.
In this wonderful series we’ve seen a lot about the bigger
animal species, including giant bugs and bigfoots and even humans, but now
we’re treated to the going’s on of some of the world's littlest animals: rats.
Rats live in a world of formality and strict hierarchy. It makes so much sense
that the small and numerous creatures need a more structured society to operate
in, otherwise there would be chaos. And speaking of chaos, this story is a
wild ride of a tale! Take a young princess who doesn’t want to be queen, a
brother worried about and protective of his sister, a suspicious suitor, two
rival nations at war over matters that seem ridiculous to outsiders; then add a
rowdy group of human teenagers, inconvenient romantic possibilities, an evil
ghost, a roving band of burglars, and, of course, a healthy dollop of bug magic
and you have an adventure filled with (yes) chaos, certain (or not so certain?)
doom, dizzying switches of perspective, but all balanced out with the steadying
influence of friendship, love and loyalty. Basically, another grand
adventure in the Animal Guild Series! (11-20)
This latest installment in the Animal Guild
Series is chock-full of the memorable characters, the non-stop action, the
witty repartee, and the thoughtful, multi-layered world-building we’ve come to
expect from this remarkably consistent collection of fantasy novels. While The
Anwinn Ghost remains focused on the interactions of the coterie of teenage
humans, human elders, cats, dogs, and beetles we’ve met in earlier adventures
in the series, it also delves much more deeply into a society first glimpsed in
the story Fist’s Day—the fascinating world of wild rats. The interplay of
those inhabiting this intriguing animal culture (whether by birth or by
accident), their struggles, heartbreaks, and eventual triumphs, propels the
novel’s plot through a series of page-turningly exciting plot twists to the
story’s ultimate, and ultimately satisfying climax. It’s all here—war, romance,
political intrigue, humor, terror, pathos, and personal growth. The Anwinn
Ghost is a worthy addition to a wonderfully rich series. (11-20)
